Outtakes from All Souls' Day

Apparently I am in charge of posts that are (1) philosophical about motherhood or (2) funny while Chris is in charge of posts that are (1) political or (2) liturgical. Below are two of the outtake photos from the cemetery this afternoon. The first one is blurry, but I wanted to show how sweet John loves to kiss the crucifix on any rosary (as taught to him by his Grandmom).

I didn't go with the guys to the cemetery because I was sick in bed with a new cold, having just a week ago gotten over the last one that lasted six to eight weeks (because pregnancy suppresses the immune system). Please pray that our little family is free of all colds when the baby arrives because what is an inconvenient virus in a bigger person is really awful and somewhat dangerous in a newborn!

  3. Katherine, if the cold is in the early stages you should consider a few doses of oil of oregano. Dave and I have been taking this at the start of colds since the beginning of our marriage and we seldom (like 1-2x/year if that) get any cold symptoms that last more than 36 hours.
Also you might want to take echinacea regularly the last few weeks of pg, not only does it help fight the colds but it also knocks out any GBS which could put a crimp in your labor plans.
Check with your midwife but I have done both of these when pg with great results. I hope you feel better!!!

  4. I hope you feel better! Sarah Faith has good advice, nothing to add there! Oh, have you ever used a Neti Pot? Supposed to work wonders. I haven't found one locally yet.

A round of colds and sinus infections just went through our house. Everyone was affected except the baby! Praise God for nursing!
