Mary's Third Day

Daddy and Mary with gorgeous flowers from Elaine and her family in the background (thank you again!):
My sleeping beauty:

John discovered an empty drawer, got inside, and announced "night-night!"

We're all recovering well here and are so glad to have Chris' mom's help. Chris is running ragged as it is meeting our needs along with her help so I can stay in bed longer till my body feels better. Today he went above and beyond when I confessed a craving for chocolate chip cookies and asked for them to be added to the grocery list. Secretly I wanted home baked cookies, as I don't buy store-bought chocolate chip cookies, but I wasn't going to say so: Chris surprised me by baking me cookies himself!
In Mary's big day, she had her hair washed, her nails trimmed, and I wore her in a sling (Hot Sling, cradle hold) for the first time. It's amazing to me how in the early postpartum days, the entire house is abuzz with nearly constant activity, all to get almost "nothing" done!
Today John hugged Mary for the first time: of his own suggestion and three times in a row. Cute! Daddy took him for some special together time out of the house to ride the commuter train into downtown and back. Sweet John ended up falling asleep in Chris' arms and that's how he rode the train almost for the entire hour-long round-trip.

  1. And she looks A LOT like you Katherine in that first photo where she's sleeping in Daddy's arms!

You should do another side by side "twin" comparison post with Mary and you, like you did when John was first born!

  2. I love when the background of the brand new baby pictures is home sweet home. What more welcoming place to bring a new baby? I am so glad you had a good home birth!!
    She is just an angel!!

  3. Wow. Look at the hair she has in the back, such that it is spilling over onto her collar. I predict pigtails within a year, how fun, squeee! :)
