Fun with Duplos

John is mad for his new Duplos! Yesterday he experienced a frustrating learning curve, trying to figure out which sides snapped together and so forth. This morning, even though I was still upstairs getting ready, John went downstairs by himself just to play quietly with his Duplos. When I was in the kitchen at one point, he came running in shouting, "Oh wow, oh wow, oh wow!" He had made a very tall stack of small blocks and was so excited by that.
Then he created this fabulous creation of increasingly smaller blocks on top of a vehicle, topped with a man. Oh wow!
It's so sweet and sad how John says pitifully, "oh, broke!" every time the Duplos come apart. He thinks the piece is broken and we keep explaining how he can just snap the blocks back together.

  1. So what's the difference between a Duplo and a Lego? :-)

  2. Rebecca: Duplos are made by Lego company. Duplos are for younger children, ages 18 months to 5 years, so they are bigger for their little hands and so they are not chokable. There is a competing product called Mega Blocks, which look great and are cheaper.
