One Last Ultrasound

I had one last ultrasound today to confirm the baby's position. Both John and this baby were breech and transverse late (considering that 95% of babies are head-down by 33 weeks and 96-97% are head-down at birth--statistically, not too many breech babies turn after 33 weeks!). So I wanted to know for sure what this baby was doing. Yes, baby is head-down now at 36 weeks. Baby has chubby chipmunk cheeks and, apparently, a lot of hair! Chris and I can hardly wait to meet him or her.

This ultrasound photo is a close-up of the face. The baby is turned toward the viewer (head on right, shoulder on left of photo), and the baby's left half of the face is in shadow. You can see fairly clearly one eye (open), the nose, and the mouth. The ultrasound tech said that the baby was smiling.

  1. Wow, that is so exciting! The baby looks so adorable, even in grainy black and white. :-) Glad to hear he/she is head down!

  2. Sigh, apparently baby is happy to meet you too. What a beautiful picture and story...perhaps even more striking given the climate in America towards babies these days. God bless you and your family.

This post made my day, so joy-filled as it is.

  5. Oh, Katherine, that's such a sweet photo! I'm eager to "meet" him or her on the "outside!"

Also, I'm eager to hear how everything goes with the birth. I pray everyone has a happy and healthy birthday!

  6. Very sweet! The baby certainly looks like he/she is smiling! :)

What a relief the baby turned...Emma was transverse too until about Week 35 or 36...made me really nervous!

  7. how cool - your doctor's name is Dr. Peacock?! LOL - It doesn't take much to amuse me.
    I agree w/Sara - he/she does take after your dh :)
Praying for a great delivery Katherine.
    God bless!

  8. Shelly: You are so funny to be amused by Dr. Peacock's name! Actually I've met him only once as I see his midwife. He's cool, though: he's the only OB in the city who TRULY supports VBACs and will do natural breech deliveries (which I would have gone for in a heart beat, had Baby Lauer not turned).
