New PJs, Folding, "Now!"

Below is my cute boy in his new fleece footie pajamas with "cop-cops" (airplanes) on them. It was supposed to get down to 30 degrees last night, but John really does favor his mama's preference for cool temperatures. By 4:30 a.m., he was roasting and begging, "off! off! off! water! water!" so I changed him into a tee-shirt only, put him under a cotton sheet only, and turned on the ceiling fan, to which he was happy as a clam and back asleep within seconds.

John looking cute yesterday:

A couple of days ago, I took another stab at teaching John the second fold in folding wash cloths into a square. He seems to be getting it now, although it still requires a lot of concentration on his part. I hope to get video soon of him pairing and folding socks, which he does pretty darned well.

In preparation of the new baby's arrival, I've been working hard for a couple of months to teach John to wait. Just to get this kiddo to wait a minute or two without throwing a tantrum is an effort. I use key words like, "Mama is busy cooking dinner, I can't play with you right now." "First I'm drinking a glass of water, then I'll get you a cracker." "Please wait while Mama gets the laundry, then I'll find your ball." Well, in reaction to my teaching him the concept of waiting, John has learned the word "now." No, he doesn't want to wait, he wants it now. Yesterday I had been giving him crackers with butter and then I was momentarily busy cleaning or something. When I told him to wait a minute, he replied with great demand, "Butter again now!"

  1. The resident washcloth folders over here (Liam & Clare) both agree that "baby John" [sic] does a very good job of folding washcloths. Quite the talent!

  2. Aww, those jammies are really cute. I love the Carter's footed PJ's - especially the fleece ones! I also think John looks adorable in that sweater...the colors remind me of a sock monkey! Too cute!!!!
