Leaping and Folding

Happy Birthday to Chris!

Below is John's new cardboard box house, created from the packing of a new work printer that arrived for Chris.
At almost two years old, John has finally become brave enough to climb onto his toy chest and jump onto the couch. Truly, I have not been such a Nervous Nellie as to hamper him. I've encouraged more bravery, but he's just a cautious, observing kind of guy. Anyway, he gets great glee from "leaping" wildly onto the couch, as videotaped below.

I dumped a load of clean towels onto the kitchen table and walked away to do a chore. When I came back, John had taken a station and folded, with as much seriousness as he could muster, a stack of wash cloths for me.

  1. Oh my goodness...I love how carefully he aligns the corners of the wash cloths! Emma could use some lessons from him.

  3. Christopher Scott;

    A special little boy, God gave to us one day;
    He placed you in our arms for us to lead the way.

    The love we had from the very first start
    Has grown so much and completely fills our hearts!

    Our lives have had some laughter;
    we’ve had our share of tears,
    But God has given each their place
    With the passing of the years…

    We’ve failed in many ways as the parents we should be,
    but our love surpasses all, as days and moments flee.

    You stand before us now and it’s hard to understand
    How God turned our little boy into a fine young man!

  4. In all seriousness, he really is doing a great job with the washcloths... he folded a perfect rectangle and could be taught to then fold that rectangle into a square. My 2 older kids are always assigned washcloth duty (well the 5 yr old boy also has towel duty) and love it... they think it is great fun and they are learning valuable life skills as well. Good job Katherine!

  5. Elaine: It's so funny, I've tried many times to teach him to make the second fold in the wash cloth, to complete the square, but it's like I'm blowing his mind with some impossible origami.
