Where Is Daddy?

Chris is out of town on a one-day business trip. This morning after John woke up, we were standing in front of his closet choosing an outfit when he said "Dada?" and pointed across the hallway to Chris' closed office door. I told John that Daddy had gone bye-bye and I took him into the dark office. He stared with real concern on his face and kept pointing to Chris' desk and saying "Dada." I walked out of the office and he pointed down the stairs, "Dada." So I took John downstairs and showed him all around the living room and kitchen saying, "Daddy went bye-bye." It was sad, yet a really exciting cognitive breakthrough at the same time!
