Broken Furniture

One of the drawers in the kitchen that John is allowed to open (meaning, it isn't locked) is the one in which I keep my table linens. This piece of furniture is inexpensive press board from my student days and apparently today was its day to go the way of all things. John was quietly playing in the drawer when I looked over to discover that it had crumbled in his hands! The very press board in which the screws are embedded has shredded, so it cannot be fixed. John had no part in it, but was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Well, we never really liked that piece of old furniture anyway!

  1. Our JoBoots arrived yesterday! I'm going to try and take a picture of them when we go out to play and post it later. We like them, but I think they're a little wide. Jody recommended we order an extra-wide, but it seems he's in between a regular and wide width. I think you've said that John has a wide foot too? DS needs a wide in Stride Rites (which I do NOT like him to wear) but he can wear regular Robeez no problem. Target's brand, though, are too wide. All of these variations in size are too frustrating.

  2. Tablecloths are totally heavy for plywood bottom drawers. Sheets too. Many a drawer I have broken from those.
But have you thought of screwing in metal brackets (the L shaped kind) so it still stays together? Dave has fixed a bunch of my drawers that way.
