Roller Coaster Madness

Today at the grocery store was the first time I've put John in the cart. I always wear him in my sling, both for closeness and to keep him away from the nasty germs on grocery store carts. But today John was being a real fussbudget and was squirming as hard as he could to get out of my wrap. So, I put him in the cart, at which point I discovered that the straps were broken; I ended up using my Maya wrap to tie John safely to the cart.

John absolutely loved it. He behaved as if he were riding a roller coaster. He jumped up and down (on his bottom) with glee and laughed loudly as we walked down the aisles. So cute!

After coming home and reading online about germs on grocery carts, I think I'll just make John suffer in my sling or backpack until he's old enough to walk next to me. Really, it's just revolting.
It took 12 years, but I finally watched Toy Story and Toy Story 2. They were extremely fun movies! Good plot line, nice writing, clever allusions, and all clean jokes!

  1. Emma started the fighting the sling (actually, Bjorn) in stores too much as she got bigger, so I bought one of those cart covers for her. Found a reasonably priced, new in the box, one at Once Upon a Child. I can still carry her in the Bjorn every so often, but she much prefers the view from the cart. Although she started to stand up in the carts now!!! *sigh*

(I sure do miss being able wear her like I did those first several months!)

  2. My store provides wipes for the cart when I forget to bring the cart cover. And I almost always have extra Wet-Ones in case I don't have the cover or the store is out of wipes.

Yes, those carts are awfully dirty!

  3. I love toy story, one of my most favorite movies! I still haven't seen toy story 2...I'll have to look into getting that one for the kiddies.

  5. I second the cart covers. You could probably get one on e-bay or I think we got ours at Target. I also have the wipes in my purse too. The kind of cart cover that we got you can also use in high chairs when dining out since they are super gross. We also have these table top covers that we got at babies r us that we stick on the table when we are out.

  6. I have at least 2 patterns for cart covers if you are interested in making one.

  7. I do already own a cart cover, I just haven't used it yet. I figure that the baby can easily pull the fabric aside and that the cover itself becomes covered in cooties unless I'm going to wash it in between each useage (and I'm just not that good of a homemaker!). I'll try it if I need it, but mostly John still likes being carried.
