I note that John consistently eats with his right hand, for what it's worth. He uses his fist to bring the food to his mouth and his thumb to shove it in.
John has been scheming and trying to detach his white tray for a month. Today he succeeded, then didn't know what to do with himself.
Note to self: Couscous is laborious to clean off of the baby, the tray, the booster seat, the floor . . .
Speaking of meal time, the other night a friend had to pick up something at our house and was dropping by around dinner time. So, we invited him to eat with us. We were in the middle of dinner when he arrived and sat down in the fourth seat at the kitchen table where--in John's short life--nobody has ever sat. John froze and stared without so much as blinking. He must have stared at our friend for 10 or 15 minutes. It reminded us that babies are thinking about things more than we give them credit for.
Dave mentioned that. He said John was staring him down and refused to be distracted. How funny.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get those pancakes? I have got to get McKenna some. Mark calls her a little vegetarian. She only will eat soy nuggets and patties and really has a distain for meat. I think she would love those.
ReplyDeleteKim: I bought those at Natural Foods Warehouse:

That store is as cool as Harry's or Whole Foods, but as cheap as Costco! You've got to check it out. For all of Chris' teasing, those little spinach pancakes were really yummy. They taste like potato pancakes, all oily and salty. :)
Kim,
ReplyDeleteMy oldest was like that (she's fifteen now). We had to hide the vegetables because she wouldn't eat anything else if the veggies were in sight. She is a hypoglycemic and she was my first and I obsessed over her getting sufficient protein. When she turned ten she became a vegetarian, and to this day will not touch meat. Maybe McKenna will go the same way. She's very healthy!
