John now has a nursery in his own room, instead of the nook of the master bedroom. This used to be my office and sewing room. We moved out the furniture; painted the walls a blue that we think would be appropriate for a boy or girl or for an office if we ever switch the nursery and Chris' office; and steam cleaned the carpets.

I suppose those with a greater design eye will be bothered by the accumulation of different styles and woods, but we worked with what we already own. The crib is a hand-me-down (thanks Aunt Leigh!), the bureau is from my former stepmother's childhood, the changing table we bought used, the glider was a gift (thanks Grandmom and Pop-Pops!), the bookshelf I bought in my single woman days, and the laundry hamper and basket for blankets were gifts. We still think it looks great!
In the video tour, I forgot to highlight our favorite piece of artwork, which is hung above the windows: a ceramic piece showing the Annunciation which we purchased in Italy on our honeymoon.
We plan to hang dark blue curtains to black out the room for daytime naps. We also plan to buy canvas cubes (like these) for the bookshelf to hold John's toys and books so it looks neater.
This is my new sewing nook in the master bedroom:
I think it looks great!!! Nice work.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty room color!!! And I love the ceramic Annunciation. It is truly a beautiful compliment. John and his future brothers and sisters will love that room.
