We enjoyed a great day at a homeschooling conference.
The below photo is a re-enactment of how I discovered John this evening. He had used his new cement truck toy to climb up higher and was trying to pull up onto the top shelf of the piece of furniture that holds the television. The truck toy has wheels and could have slipped out from under him at any moment.
These sorts of adventures and explorations are how John is increasingly accumulating little bruises. This morning, John fell into the sofa table, where he made first contact with his eyebrow (see scrape and bruise on his right eyebrow), second contact on his forehead a few inches higher (not visible in photo), then got his head stuck underneath the table. I was only five feet away, but these things happen in a flash!
Whoa. The brilliance is absolutely startling isn't it? You kind of get lulled into thinking, when they make all those dumb sounding noises, that there really isn't much going on upstairs. That's why it is always such a whammy of a surprise. LOL.
ReplyDeletehow often do you do a diaper wash? I don't use a pail. Just a bummis bag on the door of my linen closet. When the bag is mostly full I make a wash. I just use some industrial air freshener (the kind they use for showing houses) and so far it hasn't been all that smelly. Maybe that will change, who knows.
ReplyDeleteThat apot between the eyebrows is a popular bump and bruise spot! My son fell in April and cut himself on a vent and there's a still a little bump there. Yesterday he hit his head with a board book and bumped the same spot! I feel so terrible, but you're right: it just happens in a flash! And a board book? Who knew?
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me how quickly they can get into "trouble." I feel like I'm pretty vigilant, but sometimes all it takes is a half a second and they're bonking their head on something. Some days, they simply look like they've been in battle!
ReplyDeleteSarah: Yes, the cognitive development is startling! It's a little scary to think about what he's plotting and contemplating, leaving me utterly ignorant of it.
ReplyDeleteI emailed you about my diaper-washing practices.
