Today I took down Christmas decorations and was brought to tears by this ornament made for Thomas by PICU nurses when he was there last Christmas. The little ribbon inside is how tall/long Thomas was lying sedated and on a ventilator in his bed. I realize there must have been parents who left PICU after Christmas with this little memento but without their child because their child died. I got to keep Thomas and the gift. The PICU nurses do so many little artsy, personalized things like this for their pediatric patients. I am so grateful for that extra care. I hope they know how much it means to parents.
