Self-Isolation Day #50

Saturday, Self-Isolation Day #50

We request continued prayers for my husband's mother D. She has been sick with COVID-19 for about five weeks (now negative, but still sick), alone in the hospital for a month, and is now on her second stretch of being on a ventilator in order to give her lungs support for longer while they heal.

In honor of fifty days of staying home and of our neighboring state South Carolina opening up, we went on a day trip!

We visited for the first time Hatcher Garden, a 12-acre, free-entry botanical garden in Spartanburg, SC, about one and a half hours from our home. There are wonderful photos and a tour on its website if you'd like to explore further. I highly recommend this destination and we plan to visit it again.

We met up with Pop-Pops, picked up drive-through lunch, and ate it on a picnic bench in the most scenic location.

John (13) has all month been taking photography courses online offered by Nikon and was eager to practice his skills in a botanical garden.

We came upon a pond covered in a patina of algae, filled with happy turtles, and with a tree about 40-feet long fallen across it. I give my readers one guess of which child immediately and successfully walked across the log before I arrived at the pond to discover the feat too late!
