He is risen! He is risen, indeed!
Happy Easter!
My early crew had me up at 5:30 a.m. and we sat around watching the Disney movie of "Little House on the Prairie" while waiting for the Easter Vigil crew to wake up.
I laid out a spread that made for a fancy breakfast but without a tremendous amount of work, and that would even allow people waking up at different times to eat it. Voila.
- Leftover ham, reheated
- Bacon
- Sister Schubert rolls with sausages inside
- Hard boiled Easter eggs
- Fruit salad (bought pre-made at grocery)
- Loaf of bread to toast
- Homemade hash browns
- Some candy
- Orange juice
Then the children enjoyed an Easter egg hunt, which I held out on the front lawn: a first for us? The back yard is a mud pit, and the front yard is more picturesque: it worked well!
This moment caught David quizzically examining his egg while Thomas in the background is quizzically examining his own egg!
Then we gave the messy kitchen "a lick and a promise" before opening our Family Easter Basket (plus darling individual bag-baskets from Grandmom).
This year, I had to graduate to using our wicker laundry basket to hold the gifts. I love this moment when even David at seven months had crawled over and gotten on his knees to peer into the basket.
We attended the 12:30 Mass before some lovely socializing in gorgeous spring weather and a lunch out with some friends. Back at home, all the children requested to go to bed at 7:00 p.m., so we generously allowed them.

P.S. Anyone know how to Photoshop out an electrical pole from my head?
