Circus Children

If this whole homeschooling venture doesn't work out, the children will be ready for careers in the circus. (The below photos were taken over a couple of typical days around here in which my blood pressure hardly even rises over these antics anymore.)

Margaret, age 3

Why sit when one can stand and swing?

Mary (5) and John (7) doing a double-trapeze act

The trapeze isn't quite high enough, so the children hooked a chain way up high to create a High Swing.

John climbing a rope

Video of Mary climbing the rope . . . up, up, up!

John does tricks on the swing hanging from our tree, and will often spend a half hour perfecting them.

Where's Waldo . . . Where's Mary?

She does balance beam walking along the deck railing.

A regular hang-out spot

Mary: Queen of the Mountain
(No, she's not allowed to do this particular trick fifteen feet up, although, when I walked into the back yard and discovered her up there, I had to document what I told her would be her last time doing that.)

  1. That is a very cool set up you have there! My kids would love something like that.
