We arrived home safe and sound, if a little more road-weary than on the drive to Virginia.
John packed himself a sewing project to work on in the car |
We ate breakfast, then departed the hotel at 8:45 a.m. We pulled into our house at 3:45 p.m. That's seven hours for what should have been four-and-a-half hours on the road, so you can see we made a lot of stops--and none of them were fun tourist stops.
At least the children were basically pleasant and peaceful. We had to pull over for talkings-to only a couple of times. The baby was cheerful or asleep for the first five hours, but cried most of the final two hours. I would calm him down, but couldn't keep it up for more than a few minutes and he'd start wailing again. That was pretty stressful and we are very glad to be . . .
home, sweet home!
