A.M.D.G.
Happy Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary! (Queenship of Mary in the new calendar.) And thus concludes the octave begun with the Assumption of Mary.
On Thursday, my first grader was sick, so the teacher (that's me!) called off school. Amazing how much Mama gets done when just one child is sick and chilling out on the sofa. Now, when they all start getting sick, that's when Mama gets a work out . . .
As it was, I did many pleasant projects!
The girls and I made vanilla ice cream for dessert on this feast day: it was some of the best ice cream I've tasted! |
The girls and I also made bread for the week. |
Hot out of the oven! |
The day was so relaxed, I also did some good house cleaning and worked on a sewing project. With only a few hours' notice (I think the priests love being spontaneous), we learned that there would be a solemn high Mass in honor of the feast day at 5:15, so Chris and Mary attended.
At home, the non-sick ones got to eat homemade ice cream for dessert. We made a little picnic (read: towel on the ground) in the back yard so even the sick child could enjoy sitting in the late sun and heat of the day. It was lovely!
We have a lot of cicada killers in our yard. They're really big. I am glad I'm not a cicada. |
Wheeee! |
