The newborn suspicious look!
A double chin shows nursing success!
Joseph is two months old now and I am feeling calmer day to day. We still have plenty of daily chaotic moments, but generally I feel I am starting to flow with things again.
Joseph's sleeping pattern has started to have an actual pattern. I have no idea what time he would wake naturally in the morning because his siblings always wake him from a sound sleep. Then I nurse him back to sleep and he sleeps in my sling while I make breakfast and do morning chores. At some point in the morning he is alert and wakeful for a stretch, these stretches now lasting one to two hours. He has about two more wakeful stretches during the day, but I'm not totally sure because he just rides along in my sling while I'm busy doing tasks. I am so much more rested since Joseph learned to nurse which I now declare is about a zillion times easier than having to wake up and make him bottles.
The baby is starting to track with his eyes, following his siblings' movement. He is fascinated to stare at the light from open windows. He moves his head quickly to follow my voice.
I'm achieving enough of my domestic duties now--for example, making dinner every night, woo hoo!--to resume cloth diapering, which at my peak I do about 75% of the time, using disposables overnight and when out and about. It saves a lot of money in the long run and I sure do like the softer diapers on the babies' cute tushes.
We've enjoyed such fabulous milestones in the last week as being able to transfer a sleeping Joseph to his bed for up to an hour!
And finally I leave my readers with an observation from John (6) this week: "Joseph's toe fits in my ear."
Thank you for my morning chuckle! Aren't 6 year olds hysterical?!?!
ReplyDeleteHe's gorgeous
ReplyDeleteWe are on/off with cloth diapering for Malcolm. He gets this tummy things that are probably related to food allergies and they make for some real interesting diapers. I was washing every day due to smell and the fear of contaminating another child. So we took a break and now we are going to start up again this week.
I guess the ear is better than the nose.
So glad the nursing worked out!! I love those little loose soft double chins of a newborn...most kissable and snugly!
ReplyDeleteGetting up to make a bottle is a pain in the rear end, but here it has been SOO short lived. My formula babies sleep through the night by the time they are Joseph's age! Not that I think this is a reason to formula feed instead, but it definitely makes the hassle of night feedings bearable.
He's such a cutie. It feels so good to feel human and capable again, doesn't it? :-)
ReplyDeleteYay for cloth diapers! It was great seeing you at art, you did look well rested!
