I don't often post others' videos, but I can't refrain from sharing this 15-minute ESPN film about Heath White, an athlete and pilot. He writes a self-described confessional about how he tried to convince his wife to abort their second daughter when she was diagnosed prenatally with Down Syndrome. Mr. White felt he couldn't handle how his "broken" daughter would reflect on the perfection that had been his lifetime of superior achievements.
And then Paisley was born.
He remarks that people look at Paisley and see Down Syndrome first. Now he wants people to look at him and see Down Syndrome first. Be sure to watch through ten minutes to see how he achieves this.
Have a box of tissue handy.
I know it's very hard to convince people to watch a 15-minute-long video because our time is valuable. I think this one is worth it.
Thanks for posting, Katherine. Encouraging to see the this family's account of their prenatal diagnosis. I pray that as testing becomes more widely utilized hearts will be changed to know the value of all babies, not just the "perfect" ones :-)
