Early to Rise

It's really neat to see how much work I can get done before eight in the morning when the baby decides to have one of her early mornings. See how I'm trying to see the cup as half full?

5:00 Baby is wide awake for the day, singing and "talking" like a lark
Have coffee
Check email
Walk on treadmill while watching the news (while baby sits happily nearby playing with toys)
Put away the clean dishes
Make first breakfast (cold cereal)
Hand wash last load of dirty pots from last night
Do a load of laundry
Read "Aesop's Fables" to children
Change several diapers
Put baby back to bed for her first nap
Do John's reading lesson (TYCTR #29--he's doing great!)
Read Saint of the Day to the children (leads to lengthy discussion in response to John's questions about martyrs and relics and miracles resulting therefrom)
Do Morning Offering prayer with the children
Make second, hot breakfast
Clean up from breakfast
Write blog post

  1. Good morning to you!
I thought I was being quite generous by not complaining when my kids woke me at 7:30! Guess it could always be worse :)

  2. Sarah: Normal around here is up and out of bed at 6:00, so 5:00 was only one hour earlier. But it's a rather critical hour!
