I'm feeling increased calm and cheerfulness after a solid week of being very crabby and tense, all related to wondering when the new baby will be born. My body has been gearing up a lot, giving me many symptoms over which to obsess.
I've been trying to distract myself with rented movies and TV series. Today I distracted myself with some organization. I prepared a drawer in the bureau for the baby's clothing, and I pulled out of storage the Moses basket, a little swing, and a bouncy seat. I prepared a bin of newborn diapering supplies (since I gave up on diaper changing tables after the first child).
I also sorted through my maternity clothing and packed up the items I haven't worn at all this pregnancy to be donated.
After living on a lot of frozen components to meals for the last few weeks, I've cooked some dishes in the last two days that were really delicious. Yesterday I made Creamy Gumbo Potato Salad and Fresh Corn Salad, both very good and would be especially nice on a picnic or at a potluck. Tonight I made a Vidalia Onion Tart, served with brown rice and sauteed spinach and red bell pepper. (By pouring the tart filling into two pie crusts, I have a whole tart to freeze.)
Sounds like you're nesting, Mama! :-)
