The kids insisted on stopping in at the Visitor's Center before our walk and then ran around frenetically, visiting all the animals and displays.
No, Mary does not have a problem with her eyes, as seen in all these photos. She is "smiling." One wonders whether how her two-year-old posing smile compares to John's two-year-old posing smile, which was a fierce grimace!
Back at home, John was very pleased with himself for inventing "bubble shoes," which he said would protect his feet if he walked on anything sharp, like thorns.
That last picture of John is great. What a smile. He's not usually really 'smiling', but this one is infectious. I wish it were warm enough in my neck of the woods for an outdoor activity, we're getting a little stir crazy and it's only January. Argh!
John is looking so much like a kindergartener and not a preschooler! Where has the time gone? It's so hard to see your children one minute and turn around only to find in the single moment they morphed into some older child! I always feel like I didn't savor the moments enough before that happens. :( Now Mary has the cutest cheeks ever!
1. I'm not crazy, I have only two children! You have six children ages 7/8? and under! I'm well aware that the more children come, and if they're ever more closely spaced, the more I'll be staying close to home. Also, McDowell Park is an easy outing, as far as they go. It's only 20 minutes away and we stay only about half an hour usually, so I just toss a granola bar and sippy cup of water in the car and off we go.
Also, you do tons of homemade things at home that I don't chose to do. And I admire those things you do!
2. I think Mary's hair does have blond highlights, but it's brown overall. She doesn't have any of John's red.
(I have to smile at Sarah's comment. Frequent outings with two is easy; frequent outings with six would probably kill me.)
I really like the last picture of John. So sweet! (It also reminds me of when I was a kid, and my grandma and mom would put a couple of plastic bags over my tennis shoes, then wrap it with duct tape, to use for "snowboots." Couldn't afford real snow boots, so this worked in a pinch.)

1. You're CRAZY - how do you do it? I cannot do two outings a month. Seems like you do stuff all the time!
ReplyDelete2. Is mary's hair getting blonde?

I see that John's "smile" has evolved to a real smile :)
