We are hostages in our own home because a black-and-yellow argiope has taken up residence outside our front door.
See here and here and here or professional photos. I am assuming our visitor is female based on its gigantic size.
Despite the fact that these spiders are supposedly "harmless" to humans (is my potential heart attack from fear "harmless," I ask you?!), I don't know if I can ever leave the house again knowing that these guys are on my property.
wow, it's so beautiful, and what an intricate looking web!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'd want to stay in the house too. Except I'd also be afraid that if this thing were outside, then there's a chance it could have come inside as well. It gives me the willies just looking at it.
ReplyDeleteI keep feeling giant spiders crawling on me as I walk around the house, minding my own business. I keep brushing away at my skin and twitching.
ReplyDeleteYou would hate our house, which is usually surrounded by 4-6 poisonous black widow spiders on a weekly basis. Matt will go out and kill them at night, and the next week more will have taken up residence. They are super creepy & evil looking.
ReplyDeleteThat is a cool-looking spider & web you have there.
LOL...they don't want to come inside. Go out a different door if you can, get a long stick and knock down the web carefully getting the spider onto the stick....then toss it into a distant bush so that she can build her web anew AWAY from the house.
ReplyDeleteAwww, she's actually kind of cute!
