John is going on a father-son camping trip with his daddy soon and I realized he owns no jeans right now (which would be handy to wear on a camping trip), so I bought him two pairs at the consignment store for a total of $9. Then John found a one-dollar bill in one of the pockets--so the jeans were even cheaper! John is so excited about his "first dollar" and is carrying it around like a treasure. He also loves his jeans and won't be changed out of them.
After I took that photo of John's spontaneous pose, Mary insisted on doing the same.
John discovered that he could climb onto the window sill.
So Mary instantly had to copy him.
Look, something tall for Mary to climb! Actually, she's been climbing atop the deck railing for a few months now. Since she has taken to climbing to the top of the play set rock climbing wall (with a six-foot drop), I've given up feeling nervous about the deck railing with its three-foot drop.
Anna: My nerves are becoming deadened because of how often she climbs to great heights! I sit there and calculate just how injured she could get to decide whether to intervene. I figure falling off the deck railing, she'll fall 2.5-3 feet and would probably have the wind knocked out of her and probably some small bruises, but I don't think she'd get big injuries or anything broken. Maybe I'm wrong! Anyway, those are the kinds of calculations I make because she simply climbs everything! She shows no fear of heights, but she is quite fearful of bugs and *hair* (as in, my fallen hairs on the bathroom floor touching her).
You must have nerves of steel!!!! Just seeing Mary on the top of the railing made my heart leap. :)

ReplyDeleteHow funny that she's afraid of hair on the floor. :)
