Miscellaneous on Tuesday

The children are enjoying the new swing set so much. Unfortunately for us, they are most addicted to swinging and require an adult to push them, so Chris and I are getting serious arm work-outs.

This morning Mary was leaping from the train table onto the couch over and over again. Note how she keeps her arms behind her back at the beginning of the fall to add to the drama of it all.

I wish I had better video of the kids "balancing." John has taken to making contortions of his body on the Learning Tower ("Look at me, Mama!") and then Mary imitates every delicately balanced position he can come up with. So her tag line is, "I balancing!" She can do all manner of dangerous positions, although she keeps repeating the same (safe) one in this little clip.

Today was another day of excited watching out the windows as we are having in-ground sprinklers installed. I think Mama gets three gold stars for patiently sitting outside in the blazing heat at various times of day so that the children could watch the workers up close. They used a Ditch Witch and a really loud machine that was similar to a jack hammer, but was used to pound the dirt back into the ditch.

One of the workers began joking around with my boy that John should help with the digging, and where was his shovel? John was too shy to reply but then ran over to me and whispered seriously that he wanted his shovel so he could help. I explained that the man was really joking around and John almost had tears glistening in his eyes, which I couldn't bear, so we went and found a trowel so that he could dig a little. The workers should be back tomorrow for more trenching and laying of pipe.
