Snow in Boone

On Sunday after Mass we spontaneously decided to take the kids to see snow in Boone, NC. (When we got there, we met a family from Florida that was seeing snow for the first time in their lives, which was so fun.)

We found a greenway that was a good spot for snow play.

The kids had fun but were not entirely sure about sledding.

Worried expressions!

Triumph!

The best "snow gear" I could put together with a half hour's notice

When Mary would fall down, she wouldn't cry out, but would just hold still like this until help arrived.

Enjoying dinner in dry clothing on our drive home

  1. Wow! That is actual, real snow! How beautiful. I think it is hysterical how worried Mary looks ;)
I'm impressed you own a sled- and such a beautiful wooden sled :)

  2. Elaine: Funny story about that sled! Chris bought that gorgeous, old fashioned red sled for his nieces some years ago. The nieces who live in Atlanta where they get virtually no snow. But a sled is a good gift to get from a bachelor uncle. Later the nieces handed down the gift back to our children, which is wonderful! We also recently got back the wonderful old-fashioned red trike that Chris bought his nieces years ago. And we've been receiving all the wonderful clothing that came from him (usually via gift certificates to such stores as Talbots Kids)!

This is the same bachelor uncle who one Christmas gave the kids helium baloons with $100 bills inside. It's so unfortunate for those nieces and nephew regarding gift-receiving that now the bachelor uncle is married! Bwa ha ha!
