Happy Thanksgiving 2009

On Thanksgiving morning, we woke up and checked our bean-sprouting experiment. We had left the beans to soak in a bowl of water overnight. Then we transferred the beans, nesting them in between wet paper towels and sealing them in a plastic bag.

One lentil had already sprouted!

Then we raced around to get ourselves to Atlanta for the family Thanksgiving. It was more complicated than usual because on our way out of town, we resealed our granite counter tops and sprayed bug spray in all the rooms (a once or twice yearly ritual to keep away those perpetually visiting Southern cockroaches), so I had to keep the kids out of the way, then drive them around the neighborhood while Chris finished working with all the poisons.

The ride was pretty good, with the children taking a long nap and Chris and I being able to listen to some fabulous sermons we had downloaded to CD from http://www.audiosancto.org/ (which I can't recommend highly enough--I often play sermons on my computer while I work in the kitchen).

John always loves playing the keyboard at his grandparents' house.

Because we were dressed nicely, I tried to stage us for a family photo, perhaps to include in our Christmas cards. Unfortunately, they mostly turned out badly, and these three are the "best"--not worth spending money to print!

We had a lovely Thanksgiving, as always hosted beautifully by my mother-in-law.
