A lot of occupational therapy has gotten John to the point of very happily using an electric toothbrush. (Can you believe that electric toothbrushes are now so commonplace that I got this one for $6 at the grocery store?) Of course, the goal isn't that he use an electric toothbrush--I don't care--but it represents incredible progress of allowing someone else to put something in his mouth, then something that vibrates in his mouth, and now he uses an electric toothbrush with joy. In fact, it seems to work much better than a regular toothbrush, which he uses with reluctance and he says "tickles." When I use a regular toothbrush on him, he clamps his hands over his mouth, then laughs hysterically because it tickles him.
Emma still doesn't like an electric toothbrush! They kind of make her nervous.
