Running Off Energy

Today I made more effort than usual to get John to run off some energy. In the morning we took a neighborhood walk.

John adjusting his sunglasses.

John discovered that he could push the empty stroller so that it would spin along by itself, which caused great delight.

He's not so chatty in this video, but every time we pass a grate now, our little tour guide says, "It's just a grate. That's where storm water goes."

Exploring mushrooms in the grass.

In the late afternoon, I took the children to the running track of a middle school one mile away.

We drive past that track almost daily and I've often thought it would be a great, safe place to let a toddler run free because it is enclosed with a fence.

Running on the track was not as much fun as walking out into the grassy inner field and simply digging in the dirt for 15 minutes straight.

John declared gleefully, "It's a spiderweb!"

Then he promptly tripped in the "spiderweb" three times in a row trying to get out. No children were hurt in the taking of this photograph.

  1. Great idea about the track! I wish we had more within walking distance. Or actually, ANYTHING in walking distance!

  2. The photo of him getting tangled up in the "spiderweb" cracks me up!

I'm really looking forward to having some energy again so I can get Emma out more. Poor kid has been a bit cooped up since getting pregnant. I used to take her for walks every morning! :(
