John loves singing his ABCs. He'll even sing them on video (albeit not nearly as smoothly as when he is unrecorded).
A miscellaneous cute thing: I think I read in one of my Montessori books that it helps when teaching a child how to do something with his hands to use the terms "helper hand" and "worker hand" instead of left and right or right and left, as the case may be. I started using these terms last week when teaching John to spread cream cheese on crackers or sweep with his whisk and dust pan. He's already picking them up and I'll hear him talking to himself, working through a task, "This my helper hand. This my worker hand . . ." What really blew my mind was this morning when he was spreading cream cheese: he told me that the hand holding the cracker was his helper hand and the one holding the knife was his worker hand. Then he switched the knife to his left hand and told me, "This is my worker hand!" I think that is pretty neat.
Very neat! What a great idea! I don't think I've read that before, and I'm definitely going to try it with M.
