Taking It in Stride

You know you're in the "mommying groove" when you're wearing the baby while making dinner and when, without warning, the baby has forceful projectile spit-up that flies into the open drawer of Ziplock bags and tinfoil and such . . . and your only calm thought is, "I'm so glad I wasn't standing by the open drawer of silverware. That would have been much more of a hassle to clean."

  1. LOL! So true.

Of course you know you're REALLY far gone when it does go into the silverware drawer and you just grab the closest towel and halfheartedly wipe off the parts you can see and don't care about the rest because hey, it's just baby spitup! lol

  2. I'm mopping up the coffee that just came out of my nose...

Or when you catch it in your hands without batting an eyelash! DH said to me one time, "Did you ever think you'd be trying to catch someone's vomit in your bare hands and have it not gross you out?" Motherhood - I wouldn't trade it for the world!! ;)

  3. Oh that's funny! It's right up there with spending the afternoon at the mall and discovering once you return home that you spent the entire time walking around with baby poop on your leg! :)

  4. ...and when you don't bother changing your shirt to go out, even though it's covered in spit-up, because you know that is just one (or two or three) rounds of spit-up, and there are at least 15 more to come before the day is over.

  5. Cathleen: Oh, I'm right there with you. I mean, I already go through loads of laundry. If I put on a fresh shirt every time I ran out to do an errand, I'd be going through at least twice the laundry. No way! One of the advantages of babywearing is that Mary is usually covering up my spit-up stains!

  6. I would be thankful that it didn't land in the dinner I was preparing!! Having dealt with more than my fair share of puke in Ben's short life I am totally with you. I am thankful when it hits the wood floor and nothing upholstered. Not sure what you use to clean up but I find the cloth diaper/burpers work great!!
