Also this weekend, John saw me wearing my Maya wrap empty: Mary is in it so often that, even when I can set her down elsewhere, I tend to keep wearing my Maya so I don't lose track of it. John asked if he could fit in the sling: "Fit? Fit?" I haven't worn John in a sling since he was about 18 months old and became too heavy for my tired pregnant body. But this time I was able pick up John, pop him into the sling, and he thought it was the most novel, humorous thing ever! Funny how children can't remember all the backbreaking sacrifices we make for them: imagine my John thinking that my carrying him in a sling is something new!Mary and John after Mass (beautiful cranberry-colored bonnet courtesy of dear friend Elaine):
I can really see the resemblance between John and Mary in the last picture - is their hair color the same? It looks that way in the picture.
ReplyDeleteit's funny how that the older child will feel like he's got bricks in his pockets and then when you switch for the littl'r one they feel like a feather.
ReplyDeletejohn might not remember but i think as he gets older and sees more and more younger siblings enjoying the slingride(God willing) it will be revealed to him that he enjoyed this ride just the same.

ReplyDeleteYes as Elizabeth said, when I put 2 yr old Liam back in the sling after Clare was born, he thought it was hysterical. Now, when he sees me carrying Bridget in the sling, he likes to remind "when I was a baby, you carried me in the sling" and whatnot. ;)
ReplyDeleteHa ha I have a photo of Miriam sitting on top of Jireh in that bassinet (both having a grand old time). It's just irresistible, I guess!!
