After Mass there was an Easter egg hunt for the children. At first we didn't realize that there was a protected "five years old and under" area elsewhere, so John was in competition with all the big kids. The eggs were gone in about sixty seconds flat as the kids dove for them. I was able to protect John so he could pick up a couple of them.
Then we discovered the under-five area where John could take his time to pick up some eggs. In total he collected five. I ate all his candy, but he didn't know any better. Any good mother would have spared him such bad food.
Our camera ran out of batteries, but some great photos were taken at Easter brunch with the family. When I get those photos from Chris' brother, I'll post the best ones here.
Looks like a lovely day! What a great idea to have separate, age appropriate egg hunts. By the time Emma figured what was going on, all the big kids had snatched most of the eggs.
ReplyDelete(bad Mama here...Emma had a couple Hershey's kisses from her egg hunt, but she did get a kick out of feeding me some too)
Janeane: Don't worry, I was mostly joking away my own piggishness about candy! Later as I was eating a large Easter-egg shaped Reese's peanut butter cup, I let John have three bites of it (which made him a raving maniac for more).
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of John 'wearing' your chapel veil. Leo is ALWAYS pulling on my chapel veil during Mass! Once you get to Mass do you pin the veil to your head with bobby pins? I'm open to any suggestions! I used to not like the circular veils, but now I think I understand their intended use - they must be for mothers whose babies tug on their veils! Still, I like my longer veil (it's like yours) so any suggestions you have would be most appreciated!
ReplyDeleteRebecca: I used to wear longer veils that fell below my shoulders and were so pretty, but they were *impossible* with John. So I've switched to shorter veils and I have to use two bobby pins. Still, he yanks at them for the whole of Mass. I'm about to resort to wearing one of the tiny doily-style veils because I'm at the end of my rope. Plus my veil is always catching in my Maya wrap!
