Our Praying Cherub

We found a couple of old, broken cellular phones in our kitchen junk drawer today, so gave them to John who is forever seeking to play with our working cell phones. John was in seventh heaven . . .

John is starting to learn how to participate in our family prayer . . . just a little bit! At every meal we say grace and fold our hands together carefully, knowing that John is watching. For the last couple of weeks, we'd sometimes catch him folding his hands together for brief moments in the midst of our saying grace. We always praise him when we catch him doing it. Tonight when we sat down to dinner, I said to John, "Are you ready to pray?" And he clasped his little fat hands together! So precious.

Today is the first full day since I realized that John was bringing me my grown-up books in hopes that I'd read to him. I've stopped yanking them away from him and all day he was so sweet about it. He's actually become quite respectful and careful with my books and, while I wouldn't let him play with them unsupervised, he is not tearing them apart at every moment.

Be safe on this New Year's Eve, especially on the roads!
