The Christmas Report

Last year at Christmas, John was three weeks old and I have basically no memory of that hectic time, so this year felt like his first Christmas.

On Christmas Eve, I thought John might have fallen asleep for the night extremely early, so I moved all the presents under the tree. However, he woke up again and I brought him downstairs, so he saw the presents early and was fascinated. He kept trying to pull the presents through the bars of the baby gate, but was unsuccessful.

Christmas morning before opening any presents. John sitting in the fantastic car from his Grandpa.
Of all the glitter and shiny paper, what caught John's eyes first were the tiger slippers, also from Grandpa. He tottered right over, pointed, and said, "Diddy!" [kitty].
In this video you can see John's slow speed at opening gifts, which is why we opened almost all of them for him.

John and me bundled up outside of church before Mass. How cute is his new hat with its ear flaps?
The family got together at Chris' brother's home for an absolutely gourmet and delicious feast. John loved the game in which Aunt Holly held him while Cousin Anne crept up to him saying, "I'm gonna get you!" This sent John into peals of laughter every time.
Anne obviously has had such good training as a big sister. She is good with John and he loves it.

Grandmom with two of her grandkids:
Mama and her sweet boy:
Tim and Holly re-gifted us this delightful sled which Chris gave to his nieces, their daughters, some years ago so now a new brood of our family's kids can enjoy it. We can't wait to find some snow or a hill!
When we got home after a very long day, John focused right in on his new car. His legs are too short to make it move with foot-to-floor mechanism, so he figured out quickly how to push it around.

"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

  2. Thanks for the comment. :-) The girls actually made a card for Mary too but it was a little to Catholic to broadcast on my blog. Not that I am ashamed of it but I didn't want to overshadow the cuteness with something my relatives would find horrifying.
Next year I really hope to have an Advent book of stories to make even more of the Advent aspect of Christmas. With Dave's grandma's death and my sinus infection, the whole month seemed to get away from us.
Thankfully Christmas technically lasts another week and a half, right? :-)
