On Monday, John's Grandmom stopped by with an early birthday present for him. Since then he has spent many minutes playing with the bag and curly ribbon!
How cute is that boy wearing the fireman's hat he found in the toy box?
Here is some video of John crawling along, carrying the blue gas cap from his plastic lawn mower:

Here is video capturing John's latest favorite sound: the "brrrrrr" one makes to indicate a car vrooming. Yesterday was a very tearful day for John because of his teething, but when he wasn't crying, he was making the "brrrrr" sound.
And, lastly, an update on my pre-John "kids," the cats. Last week I picked up Missy (the grey ornery one) and she felt light as a feather. I realized that I've been carrying John so much in the last 11 months that I've stopped carrying the cats very often, so I hadn't noticed her weight loss. I was very concerned about a tumor or something deadly, so I made a veterinarian appointment. Missy has been obese her whole life, weighing about 12 pounds no matter what kind of diet the veterinarian prescribed her. When the vet weighed her yesterday, she tipped the scales at . . . 11.8 pounds! The reason she feels light as a feather is that I haul around a 20+ pound baby every day! You can imagine my chagrin.
However, the appointment was just in time. The vet took blood and urine samples for analysis and discovered that Missy has a urinary tract infection. Now, I would have discovered that this very morning because when I went to clean her litter box, I discovered a pool of bloody urine! Now we have a prescription of liquid antibiotics. Her dosage is two squirts twice daily, so, while I can sneak up on her with the first squirt, she knows the second one is coming. Chris will be on a business trip during her antibiotic course, so I'm going to have to learn how to pin down the cat, fill the vial twice, and deliver it all by myself!
Oh my gosh Katherine I had to do the same with my cat!! LOL...not to discourage you but it was total hysteria! I still have stains on my kitchen walls from the projectile of medicine the cat would spray from his mouth! The problem wasn't getting it in his mouth so much as making him swallow it! I think the docs take into account that not all the meds will get in because what little we actually got him to swallow worked and he has been healthy ever since.
