And our cat Oliver helped guard the filled eggs.
It was the most fun to prepare Easter for John and his young cousins. Now I understand how fun the holidays are for grown-ups who have children! In contrast, my heart was dampened when I was buying some of the Easter supplies this morning. The female clerk asked me the age of my son, then remarked that she also has a 4-month-old baby. How blessed I am that I don't have to work outside the home! Thank you, Chris!
A lot of other mothers have remarked to me that John is a strong baby. I have nobody to compare him with, so what do I know? Since John was born he has loved to stand on my lap with me providing help balancing. When John is lying on his back, I put my fingers in his hands, he clamps on, and I pull him up. He keeps himself stiff and not only sits up, but rises fully to his feet. Then he stands there and laughs!
Now I understand why Grandmom's eyes "leak" so often. This morning in Costco I congratulated a woman on her new infant son; she was shopping with her nearly three-year-old and her four-week-old. In talking to her, I started crying right then and there! They were tears of joy at the birth of a new little one. The sweet boy still had broomstick arms and legs, hardly any baby fat on his bones. Considering I am four months postpartum, I don't think I can blame my frequent tender tears on raging hormones anymore. I think I'm stuck with a mama's heart now!
Katherine,
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you about feeling incredibly lucky and thankful to my husband to be able to stay home with my boys. I feel terribly for those who cannot be home with their children and who have to miss out on so many firsts. Truly we are blessed.
Your little John is a darling!!! He is absolutely precious!

yeah miriam did that too. and jireh. miriam didn't walk until 17 mos; actually she didn't properly crawl until 16 mos. jireh was walking at 9 mos on the other hand.
ReplyDeletechristina hardly even holds up her head. lol.
john is huge, strong, and an overachiever. :-)
I wonder if the big difference in Miriam and Jireh walking was their temperaments. Didn't you say Miriam was content to lay on the bed and watch the ceiling fan (so, no need to walk anyway in particular), but Jireh insisted on being in your company (so would want to walk to get going places)?
ReplyDeleteAshley: I couldn't agree more with what you wrote!
